New-York trio The Shacks released their debut record, Haze, on Big Crown Records; produced by Shrager and Leon Michels of El Michels Affair. The gentle psych-rock that infiltrates their sound is never over-bearing, if anything, slightly sedative. The band released three singles last year, including our favourite 'Smile Now, Cry Later'. They've now dropped a new single aptly titled 'Crimson and Clover'. Sweet and soulful, 'Crimson and Clover' is reminiscent of the love-tinged songs of The Beach Boys. Bassist and singer Shannon Wise's vocals are sugar-coated drops of candy for the ears, whilst the band keep to a tight R&B-inspired rock sound that waivers between dreamy and upbeat sections.
